Children of Ben Dudlach
For those who still follow the Old Ways the years like the tides are said to come in waves of seven. Every seventh year the veil between this world and the next is at its thinnest and when the Spirits are most active events of great import are more likely to occur. Bards in their ballads and histories can point out a long trend of dramatic events happening in seven year cycles. Some of them even suggest that there is a secondary cycle of seven “seventh-years” or forty-nine years. True believers store up crops and supplies preparing for a forty-ninth year like it was a twelve month Winter, because you never know what such a year might bring – war, famine, floods, falling stars, or worse.
Children born in a seventh year are portentous. Whether they are blessed or cursed is something even the Druids debate, but they are destined for significance.
