Children of Ben Dudlach
Dun Uillich is a wooden hill fort positioned at the highest point of the headlands on the Southern shore of Torren Firth near where the Firth meets the Frozen Sea. The fifteen foot wooden walls have become coated in bright yellow and orange lichen visible from quite a distance. The hall at the peak of the hill is made of stone and boasts a slate roof.
The primary purpose is to guard the Firth and the Western shoreline against Stormhir raids. Thane Ranagord, who inherited command of Dun Uillich from his uncle, maintains a small fleet of stolen longships which patrol the opening of the Firth during the Summer months when raids are most likely. Sea caves beneath the headlands on which Dun Uillich is perched provide a secure and secret harbor for the fleet and the occasional trading vessel that journeys this far north. Ranagord has recently sworn his sword to Queen Maeve of Connachta along with almost all the Thanes of the Western Highlands. Though Ranagord is good friends with Chieftain Senach Brus of Dachaigh he scorns the Old Ways as barbaric.
The secondary purpose of the fort is a trading outpost for seal pelts, whale products, wool, potatoes, salmon and many other Highland products.
